Everyone was honestly super helpful from scheduling to getting us into the care. I appreciate Dr. beck's team. Tabby and Judy on his team were great! Dr. Almengual talked to my daughter in a way she understood which was nice. She wants to be involved and him involving her before her even asking helped her feel more comfortable through the process. Dr. Sherry was involved as well it showed me that everyone was involved.

If I could give 10 stars, I would — but I’ll give 5, doubled. Single mom here to a double‑special‑needs teen, and any parent reading this who truly lives this life every day will understand exactly what I mean. Finding a dentist for children is already difficult. Finding one for a special‑needs child can feel almost impossible. While some kids have no problem going to the dentist, many children — both typical and special‑needs — strongly resist doctor visits, and a dental visit can be especially overwhelming. On top of that, my child’s physical and developmental challenges make daily habits harder to maintain, even the ones we all know we should be doing — like brushing three times a day. Real life is real life. I was honestly relieved and excited when I found Tampa Children’s Surgery Center in Westchase. From the very first visit, I knew we were in the right place. What surprised me the most was how quickly they were able to help — from the initial consult to the surgery date, everything happened within the same week. That alone is rare and incredibly important for families like ours. Surgery Day Surgery day at Tampa Children’s Surgery Center could not have gone better. The staff was patient, kind, and genuinely attentive. When my child became anxious during pre‑op, the team listened immediately and adjusted without hesitation. We were moved to a quiet, private room, and the anesthesiologist stepped in with calm confidence and compassion. The anesthesiologist was exceptional — experienced, gentle, and clearly knowledgeable about working with special‑needs children. Everything was explained to me clearly, respectfully, and without rushing. My child was calm, cared for, and treated with dignity every step of the way. The procedure itself went smoothly. The dental team performed a thorough evaluation, addressed the problem completely, and performed an excellent cleaning. I left knowing my child was not only treated, but truly cared for. I do want to add a sincere suggestion: Tampa Children’s Surgery Center in Westchase would be an incredible resource for more families if pediatric offices were more aware of your services. It’s important to recognize that special needs are not limited only to children with diagnosed disabilities. Today, many children considered typically developing experience intense fear or anxiety around dental care. Additionally, many families are working long hours just to provide for their households. Even with the best intentions, daily routines like dental hygiene can become difficult to maintain consistently, and unfortunately this can lead to children needing urgent or advanced dental treatment. This surgery center is a wonderful solution for those situations. Children can receive the care they need safely, efficiently, and without traumatic experiences. Knowing that a place like this exists is invaluable for both pediatric providers and families. Tampa Children’s Surgery Center in Westchase understands something that is priceless:

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Aljandera Rivera at the Children’s Hospital in Tampa, along with the anesthesia team—Dr. Hamilton and Elim—and the dental team, including Deena and Nurse Morgan. From the very beginning, they made both me and my daughter feel comfortable and at ease about the dental surgery. Dr. Rivera was incredibly patient and kind. She was actually the first dentist my daughter trusted enough to allow her to examine her teeth without fear, which meant so much to us. That truly shows how gentle and understanding she is with children. Everyone involved was caring, professional, and supportive throughout the entire process. The procedure went very smoothly, and I felt confident that my daughter was in safe and capable hands.
