Founded in February 2019, Tampa Children’s Surgery Center proudly serves pediatric and special needs patients throughout the Tampa area. As an ambulatory surgery center specializing in general anesthesia dentistry and comprehensive dental care, we provide safe, comfortable care in a welcoming environment.
Our experienced team of dental professionals offers pediatric and special needs procedures in a state-of-the-art setting. Treatment is completed in a single visit while patients sleep peacefully throughout their procedure, providing families with a convenient and stress-free experience.
We work closely with local dentists and specialists to provide access to high-quality care for children and special needs patients requiring general anesthesia dentistry. Patients and families trust our team for our compassionate care, experienced providers, advanced safety standards, and commitment to making treatment accessible. We proudly accept Medicaid, most PPO insurance plans, and private pay options.

This place is amazing! Everyone I encountered during my son's appointment was very nice and welcoming. The process was smooth and very efficient; from a patients point of view, this place runs like a well oiled machine. Dr. Gyles and Dr. Almengual had great bedside manner and ensured all of my questions were answered prior to and after the procedure. Nurse Aysha Evans was absolutely outstanding! Her calm demeanor and bubbly personality desolved any reservations I had about my son's procedure being done. She is definitely an asset to this establishment and it shows that she genuinely cares about all of her patients.
My son Marckus had his procedure on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, under general anesthesia, and I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the entire clinic team.
From the very beginning, the care we received was exceptional. The front desk staff was very kind, and Nurse Morgan treated us with warmth and professionalism at all times. Dr. Hamilton made sure my son was carefully monitored throughout the entire procedure.
I would especially like to recognize Dr. Lisandra Rivera, who was truly an angel from the initial evaluation appointment. On the day of the procedure, she took the time to listen to all our questions and concerns, making us feel understood and at ease. Her experience and dedication gave us complete confidence that our son was in the best possible hands.

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Aljandera Rivera at the Children’s Hospital in Tampa, along with the anesthesia team—Dr. Hamilton and Elim—and the dental team, including Deena and Nurse Morgan.
From the very beginning, they made both me and my daughter feel comfortable and at ease about the dental surgery.
Dr. Rivera was incredibly patient and kind. She was actually the first dentist my daughter trusted enough to allow her to examine her teeth without fear, which meant so much to us. That truly shows how gentle and understanding she is with children.
Everyone involved was caring, professional, and supportive throughout the entire process. The procedure went very smoothly, and I felt confident that my daughter was in safe and capable hands.
Dr. Rivera did an excellent job, and I am very grateful for the care and dedication shown by the entire team. I highly recommend them to any parent looking for a compassionate and skilled pediatric dental experience.
My child is 15 and has had anxiety for years and every dentist we seen would not see her and we went to more than 5. If she moved a finger, referred out. So due to genetics, trying to fight with insurances, shifting she has a lot of dental needs and obviously doesn’t help your self esteem or anxiety. So tbh finding a provider took us a lot of time but this place has shown us respect, care, and compassion. Dr Rivera and her Team (to name just a few, Dr Linda, Lauren, Miranda and everyone from the front office to the surgery center staff) has been supportive and helpful! We’ve never been shamed, negated, and told she couldn’t do it. She has been so helpful, kind and supportive of my child and never rushed us at all. I have been a parent resource support for the
special needs community for a long time and Dr. Rivera has been at the very top of my list and should be yours too!
Absolutely wonderful facility. Melissa at check in was so kind every time I came up with a question, no matter how silly. Even turned up Kung Fu Panda for the kids since they couldn’t hear Master ShiFu and ensured it was loud enough before continuing her other tasks.
Derek, my sons nurse, was just as caring. Shook my hand when he greeted me and ensured I understood everything that was going on. Had a sense on humor too! Much rather read care instructions than people watch in the lobby 😅
I never thought I’d need to bring my son to a facility like this, but I am BEYOND grateful for the care and compassion showed by every single staff member. I know healthcare is difficult, so I want you all to know how much this momma appreciates you. ❤️
(Also, LOVE to the nurse who helped my difficult child take liquid meds. He’s never been good about it and this wonderful woman has that nurse ✨ magic ✨)
