Founded in February 2019, Tampa Children’s Surgery Center proudly serves pediatric and special needs patients throughout the Tampa area. As an ambulatory surgery center specializing in general anesthesia dentistry and comprehensive dental care, we provide safe, comfortable care in a welcoming environment.
Our experienced team of dental professionals offers pediatric and special needs procedures in a state-of-the-art setting. Treatment is completed in a single visit while patients sleep peacefully throughout their procedure, providing families with a convenient and stress-free experience.
We work closely with local dentists and specialists to provide access to high-quality care for children and special needs patients requiring general anesthesia dentistry. Patients and families trust our team for our compassionate care, experienced providers, advanced safety standards, and commitment to making treatment accessible. We proudly accept Medicaid, most PPO insurance plans, and private pay options.

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Aljandera Rivera at the Children’s Hospital in Tampa, along with the anesthesia team—Dr. Hamilton and Elim—and the dental team, including Deena and Nurse Morgan.
From the very beginning, they made both me and my daughter feel comfortable and at ease about the dental surgery.
Dr. Rivera was incredibly patient and kind. She was actually the first dentist my daughter trusted enough to allow her to examine her teeth without fear, which meant so much to us. That truly shows how gentle and understanding she is with children.
Everyone involved was caring, professional, and supportive throughout the entire process. The procedure went very smoothly, and I felt confident that my daughter was in safe and capable hands.
Dr. Rivera did an excellent job, and I am very grateful for the care and dedication shown by the entire team. I highly recommend them to any parent looking for a compassionate and skilled pediatric dental experience.
MAJOR SHOUTOUT TO STAFF!! You guys are awesome. My 5yr old had to go under anesthesia because she had many cavities and I was a little nervous but everyone showed up with so much support. All staff was kind, caring, informative, helpful. I couldn’t have asked for more. Space was clean and the wait time was fast. My daughter was a champ and was up and flipping after the procedure the same day. It was shocking. Overall, thank you guys for the experience. Shoutout to front desk for smooth checkin/checkout and staff team for my daughter; Pre-op Rn: Judy, Dental team: Dr. Chery and Danay. Anesthesia team: Dr. Almengual and Amanda, Nurse: Miranda. If you’re feeling nervous, mom, please don’t be—this place is amazing and the staff is very kind. Dr. Gyles is wonderful. He performed surgery on both of my children, Antonio and Anea, and took the time to answer all of my questions, making me feel confident that my kids were in great hands.
The procedures were quick, and their recovery went so smoothly with minimal pain. I know some of the reviews may sound scary, but please don’t let that worry you. They truly did everything necessary to improve my children’s dental health.
I’m so happy for my babies—no more cavities!
